Keep your existing T8 fitting – switch to a T5 tube with this adapter
The LANDLITE PLF-8/5-35 T8-to-T5 fluorescent tube adapter (item no. 12OT681) combines a built-in electronic ballast with a silver reflector. It is designed for one 35 W T5 fluorescent tube and has a total length of 1500 mm (150 cm). It lets you run a T5 tube in a compatible existing T8 fluorescent fitting – it is not an LED conversion kit and not a complete luminaire replacement.
Why choose this adapter?
- Reuse a compatible T8 fitting – for the right indoor size, lampholders and wiring (e.g. archives, workshops, stockrooms), often more economical than replacing the whole luminaire.
- Electronic ballast and reflector in one – reflector trough with white end connectors included.
- Clear specification – 1 × 35 W T5, 1500 mm, 220–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz; tube always sold separately.

Check compatibility before ordering
This is a fluorescent adapter, not an LED light fitting. Check the existing fitting's dimensions, lampholders, wiring and ballast arrangement before installation. Available information does not establish compatibility with an existing electronic ballast, LED tubes or emergency lighting. Contact us with the fitting details if you are unsure: landlite@landlite.eu.
Installation notes
The product label instructs the installer to switch off the supply, remove the original T8/T12 tube and starter, then fit the T5 electronic adapter with its separately purchased tube into the original fitting. This brief label instruction does not establish compatibility with every fitting. Have a qualified electrician verify compatibility and follow the complete product instructions before use.
The 35 W value is the compatible fluorescent lamp rating, not a verified total system consumption. Light output, colour temperature and colour rendering depend on the selected tube. Application images are AI-generated illustrations (application effect shown for reference); the host fitting and tube shown do not establish the delivery contents. The fluorescent tube is not included.
FAQ
What does this adapter convert?
It enables one 35 W T5 fluorescent tube to be used in a compatible existing T8 fluorescent fitting. It includes an electronic ballast and reflector; it is not an LED conversion adapter.
Is a fluorescent tube included?
No. The 35 W T5 fluorescent tube must be purchased separately. Light output, colour temperature and colour rendering depend on the chosen tube.
Will it fit every T8 fitting without rewiring?
Universal compatibility and installation without rewiring are not verified. Have a qualified electrician check the fitting dimensions, lampholders, wiring and ballast configuration.
Can I use an LED tube?
Compatibility with LED tubes is not verified. This product is designed for one 35 W T5 fluorescent tube; matching physical dimensions alone does not establish electrical compatibility.
How much energy will it save?
No verified saving percentage or total system consumption measurement is available for this model. The 35 W value is the compatible lamp rating. Savings depend on comparing the complete original and replacement systems.
What should I check before a refurbishment or new installation?
Check that a suitable replacement fluorescent tube is available before purchasing. Relevant EU mercury exemptions for conventional T5/T8 tubes for general lighting expired on 24 August 2023. This is distinct from a ban on this adapter supplied without a lamp. For new installations, compare a separate LED solution as well; this does not establish LED-tube compatibility with this adapter.
Regulatory background: Commission Delegated Directive (EU) 2022/284.

EU energy label (2019/2015): This product is a fluorescent-tube adapter with built-in ballast (control-gear function). It is not a light source placed on the market on its own, and it is supplied without a tube. Regulation (EU) 2019/2015 requires energy labels for light sources; we do not apply a generic luminaire/light-source energy-label promise to this adapter. Labelling of any chosen T5 tube is the tube supplier’s responsibility. A CE declaration of conformity is available by email on request if held. An LDT photometric file is not supplied for this adapter (LDT files are typically for luminaires).
